Bangladesh unaware of BSF complaint against BDR
DHAKA, APRIL 28. The Bangladesh Foreign Secretary today said he
was not aware of any complaint lodged by the Border Security
Force against Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) for the killing of its
personnel on the border.
``We have not been officially communicated. Let us see what
charges they bring, then we will reply,'' BSS news agency quoted
the Foreign Secretary, Syed Muazzem Ali, as saying. He said India
``should also carry out its own investigation into how BSF men
entered Bangladesh territory as we are carrying out an enquiry on
how the BSF men were killed.''
Denying that the Bangladesh Army was backing the BDR, the Foreign
Secretary said, ``I am in constant touch with the Army and this
(allegation) is baseless.'' To a question, he said the Prime
Minister, Sheikh Hasina's visit to India has ``not yet been
finalised. It is under process. Various options are being looked
into in view of her heavy preoccupations at home.''
On Thursday, the BSF filed an FIR with the Assam police accusing
the BDR of international war crimes for the brutal killing of 16
jawans on the Bangladesh border. The FIR was filed with the
Mankachar police station, following the killing of the BSF men at
Boraibari.
