NCP will ensure peace through development: Pawar
Dibrugarh (Assam), April 28. (PTI): Nationalist Congress Party
President Sharad Pawar today said that his party would try to
ensure "peace through development" in Assam and would improve
the prevailing law and order situation.
"Autonomy movements and insurgency are not the solution to
problems plaguing the State but development was the key issue
which alone can bring peace," Pawar told reporters at the
residence of Ajay Baruah, NCP candidate for Dibrugarh Assembly
constituency.
He accused the ruling AGP Government in the State of being
responsible for the poor law and order situation, lack of
development, unemployment problem, lack of drinking water
facilities, power problems and poor industrialisation.
Asked about the alliance between the AGP and the BJP, Pawar said
"two corrupt parties have come together."
He further said that if voted to power his party's top priority
would be to solve the recurring perennial problem of flood in the
State and to control the erosion by Brahmaputra.
NCP leader P A Sangma, who was also present on the occasion, said
his party was confident of winning 71 seats.
