BSES' higher net profit

MUMBAI, JUNE 28. BSES has announced a higher net profit of Rs.
321.37 crores for the year ended March 2001 against Rs. 306.82
crores in the previous year. The board has recommended a dividend
of 40 per cent for the year.
The company's total income for the year was Rs. 2,763.10 crores
against Rs. 2,429.63 crores, including net sales from sale of
electrical energy of Rs. 2,158.40 crores (Rs. 1,947.87 crores),
income from EPC, contracts and computer divisions of Rs. 528.92
crores (Rs. 390.57 crores) and other income of Rs. 75.78 crores
(Rs. 91.19 crores).
Total expenditure for the year was Rs. 2,160.54 crores (Rs.
1,755.07 crores). The company provided Rs. 55.34 crores (Rs.
94.24 crores) for interest, Rs. 196.81 crores (Rs. 183.47 crores)
for depreciation and Rs. 29.04 crores (Rs. 90.03 crores) for tax.
During the year, the Dahanu Power station operated at a plant
load factor (PLF) of 82.68 per cent and achieved a plant
availability of 92.33 per cent. The power station improved upon
various operating norms relating to specific oil consumption,
auxiliary power consumption, heat rate and dematerialised water
consumption during the year. The contracts division and EPC
business group has order worth Rs. 696.41 crores on hand as on
March 31, 2001.
