It was our fate, says Vajpayee
NEW DELHI, AUG. 18. The Prime Minister, Mr. A.B. Vajpayee, today
took a dig at the Pakistan President, Gen. Pervez Musharraf,
saying it was in India's fate to have him as its guest.
``We treat guests as gods. We invited Gen. Musharraf and he came.
Now if someone asks what kind of a guest he was, then I would say
it was perhaps written in our fate to have him as our guest,''
Mr. Vajpayee said at a book release function here attended by the
Sangh Parivar leaders.
``You get a guest if you have a good fortune and there must be
something good behind it. The way the receiver's name is written
on every morsel of food, the guest too might bring some good
tidings with him,'' he said.
Gen. Musharraf was criticised for abusing India's hospitality by
meeting the Hurriyat leaders in Delhi and by televising an
informal chat with editors in Agra.
