Tidel Park to go commercial by June

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI, APRIL 2. The fast coming up Rs. 338-crore software technology park of Tidel Park Limited, floated jointly by Tamilnadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) and Electronic Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT), will go on stream by the first week of June.

Addressing a press conference here today, Mr. B. V. M. Sarma, CEO of Tidel Park Limited, said the total built-up area of the project would be 1.28 million sq. ft. Out of this around 25 per cent had already been sold.

So far, 14 companies had taken space, aggregating 2.2 lakh sq. ft. and discussions were in advanced stages with 10 companies for 5.5 lakh sq. ft. of space. He hoped to complete the deals with them by the end of May.

Mr. Sarma said the project would achieve break-even when it sold 45 per cent of the space.

This would be achieved by end of this year. TPL had been aggressively marketed to achieve an occupancy level of 60 per cent by May.

He said the State Government was giving extensive support to this project, including provision of guarantee to term loans to the extent of Rs. 259 crores raised from banks and institutions.

TPL, he said, would float a global tender to identity best facility managers for the upkeep of the park. Six companies had already made their presentations.

The maintenance of the park involved transcription management, preventive maintenance management and break-down management. Earlier in the day a team of presspersons was taken around the construction site.

Mr. Sarma said civil works were completed by January and services like ACMV, electricals, lifts, fire protection system and DG installation were under active implementation.

VSNL, DoT, STPI were providing exclusive services to TPL with state-of-the-art features. There would be two dedicated communication backbones created within TPL for operation by VSNL, STPI and also by future ISPs.

The architecture of the communication backbone was such that each of the office modules would have five pairs of PCM cables and one pair of OFC providing bandwidth of 10-12 Mbps.

He said TNEB was setting up an exclusive sub-station of 110 kV for uninterrupted power supply. TPL was also setting up a 10.5 MVA DG set for 100 per cent of the back-up requirement.
