ICC Cricket Week begins with fanfare
DHAKA, APRIL 2. Hundreds of fans and members of the Bangladesh
cricket team joined a colourful street rally as the first ever
ICC International Cricket Week celebrations began here on Sunday.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) started the week-long programme
with a procession of cricketers from all levels and fans from the
National Tennis Complex to the Bangabandhu National Stadium. A
limited-overs match between Asian XI and World XI here on April 8
will be the highlight of the celebrations, being organised for
the first time by ICC in association with the United Nations to
globalise the game.
Bangladesh Cricket Board has planned a number of programmes
including matches, quiz competitions, seminars on the game
throughout the week.
The government will also launch a number of development schemes
during the week to link the game with overall progress and
prosperity.
