15 killed in road accident near Dhone

KURNOOL, APRIL 3. Fifteen people were killed in a ghastly road
accident early today on the National Highway No. 7 Kurnool-
Bangalore road, 10 km south of Dhone. A private luxury bus of
Hyderabad, going from Bangalore to the twin cities, overtook a
lorry and collided head-on with a tipper carrying limestone.
The victims were 11 bus passengers (10 died on the spot and one
in Dhone hospital), the drivers of the bus and the tipper and two
hamalis (labourers) travelling perched on the tipper.
The Superintendent of Police, Mr. N. Madan Mohan, and the
District Collector, Mr. C. Uma Malleswara Rao, visited the spot.
The names of the twelve of the dead were given as: Pujari
Ramakrishna (25), Kamalapuram village; Mala Chandrasekhar (22),
Kamalapuram; Mala Munuswamy (20); Abdul Samee (30); B. N. Hareesh
(35), Ramanthapur, Hyderabad; C. M. Arjunan; Dinesh, Hyderabad;
Narasimhulu (51), Rajendranagar, Hyderabad; Sethu Ramalingam,
Hyderabad; Jakka Nivas, Shimoga, Karnataka; R. Lokanathan,
Begumpet, Hyderabad; and P. M. George, Bangalore.
