India, Tunisia sign extradition treaty
CAIRO, APRIL 8. India and Tunisia have signed an extradition
treaty to make cooperation between the two countries in
suppression of crime more effective.
The treaty was signed earlier this week when the Minister of
State for External Affairs, Mr. Ajit Kumar Panja, visited Tunis
to attend the Eighth Indo-Tunisian Joint Commission meeting, an
official accompanying him told PTI here.
Mr. Panja was on transit here from Tunisia to Sudan where he will
attend the second meeting of the Indo-Sudan Joint Commission.
India and Tunisia also signed a memorandum of understanding in
the area of agriculture to promote cooperation in aquaculture,
fish genetics and fish processing, soil conservation, vegetable
and animal production, and exchange of training courses and
experts along with genetic material and scientific information.
A programme for cooperation in the fields of science and
technology focussing on areas of bio-technology, information
science, medical sciences and renewable energy sources was also
firmed up by the two countries, the official said.
