TNCC(I) takes out rally against price hike

CHENNAI, APRIL 8. The TNCC(I) today took out a protest rally to the Raj Bhavan and presented a memorandum to the Governor, Ms. Fathima Beevi demanding the immediate roll-back of the hike in prices of fertilizer, LPG, kerosene and PDS rice and wheat effected by the BJP-led government at the Centre.

Talking to the media after meeting the Governor alongwith the TNCC(I) president, Mr. Tindivanam K. Ramamurthy and chairman of the State Congress Election Authority, Mr. K. Sankaranarayanan, the AICC general secretary in charge of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Gulamnabi Azad, said the party's nation-wide stir against the price hike would be intensified.In Chennai, another protest rally would be held jointly by the TNCC(I), AIADMK and the TMC against the DMK Government in the State, he added.

The memorandum submitted today described the steep increase in prices of various commodities after the Assembly elections in four States as an act of ``cheating and betrayal''.

While the former TNCC(I) president, Mr. K. V. Thangabalu and former Union Minister, Mr. M. Arunachalam were present at the protest rally, most other senior leaders kept off.
