BPL Telecom launches bplnet.com

CHENNAI, APRIL 20. BPL Telecom business group announced the launch of bplnet.com, the Internet company. It already launched Internet services in Bangalore and Pune and plans to launch in 31 centres across the country shortly.

The service will be accessible from 85 countries around the world from May this year, Mr. Anup Varma, Chief Operating Officer told presspersons here today.

The company will focus on quality of service (QoS). Digital E1 lines will allow users to enjoy high-speed uninterrupted access at all times. It has so far invested about Rs. 100 crores and plans to invest further Rs. 750 crores.

The company's focus is on building a scalable IP network that will have access to group optic fibre networks and international gateways. It has planned investments in the Internet infrastructure, backbone infrastructure and strategic investments and alliances.

bplnet will offer end-to-end Internet solutions that include dial up access for individuals and businesses, high speed digital subscriber line (DSL) and managed enterprise networks, and application services. It will also be offering Internet access on mobile phones and on televisions using set top boxes.

Detailing marketing strategy, Mr. Verma said the group's customer franchisees spread over 2,500 corporates and over 4.50 lakh wireless subscribers. It has more than 500 retail outlets and 20 system integrators to meet customer needs effectively.

The access packages range from 30 to 500 hours. Single account allows special rates at night and on Sundays. Domestic roaming facilities are available for its members from the point of presence locations and international roaming facilities from 85 countries.
