Govt. response not satisfactory: Pilot

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, APRIL 28. The Congress(I) today criticised the Government for ``not responding satisfactorily'' to Opposition's questions in Parliament. This was of serious concern as it was a question of the Government's accountability and parliamentary democracy, the party leader, Mr. Rajesh Pilot said.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Pilot said during the debates on the Home Ministry, on the price hike and on the motion of thanks to the President's address, the Government failed to reply to the questions raised by the Congress.

The Government had tried to do a ``whitewash job'' during the discussion on the price hike issue. The Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Minister, Mr. Shanta Kumar, claimed that subsidies had been increased. But the Standing Committee report had brought out that subsidies for the current year were Rs. 1,100 crores less than last year.
