Asia Pacific junior at Calcutta

CALCUTTA, APRIL 28. The Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC) will host for the first time the 22nd Asia Pacific junior golf championship from May 2 to 5. This is the second time this meet is being held in India with Delhi hosting it for the first time in 1991.

This tournament will see for the first time a girls' team championship for the RCGC Trophy. This age group meet has attracted 98 boys and 28 girls of four age categories. Class A comprises 15 to 17 years (handicap limit being 12 or lower), class B consists of 13 to 14 years (handicap 16 or lower), class C 11 to 12 (24 or lower) and Class D comprises 10 and under (30 or lower). Girls will also have the same age group categorisation but the handicap will be different. Twenty eight or lower is for class A, 20 or lower for B, 30 or lower for C and 36 or lower for D.

Teams for the team event shall be composed of two class A players and two class B players. The championship will be of 72 holes. In each 18 hole round, the total of the three lowest scores shall constitute the teams score for that round. The total of the team's score for the four round shall be the team's score for the championship. The team returning the lowest score shall be the winner.

The first two classes of boys' group will have 72 holes of stroke play while 54 holes stroke play are for boys in Class C, and D and girls division. The Janya Cup will be given to the boys' team winner.

Teams from Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia and India are fray.
