PM indicates considering rollback of prices

NEW DELHI, MAY 1. The Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, today indicated that his Government might consider the allies' demand for a rollback of the prices of foodgrains sold through the Public Distribution System.

Mr. Vajpayee told presspersons here that he did not think the demand for a rollback was justified but at the same time clarified that ``a final decision on the issue is yet to be taken.''

His Government had declared that ``given the economic situation of the country, the Government has to take certain hard decisions which will not be popular.''
