Full-time envoy

NEW DELHI, MAY 1. The Government today announced the appointment of Mr. Rakesh Sood, Joint Secretary (Disarmament) in the foreign office as Ambassador and India's Permanent Representative to the UN

Conference on Disarmament in Geneva. Mr. Sood will be the first Indian to be appointed fulltime ambassador to the Conference on Disarmament.

In a related announcement, Mr. Alok Prasad, who is currently Joint Secretary (Americas) in the foreign office, has been appointed India's next High Commissioner to Mauritius.
