Two killed in Pak. shelling

By Our Special Correspondent

SRINAGAR, MAY 1. Pakistani troops last evening resorted to heavy shelling in the Teetwal-Karnah sub sectors in Kupwara district, killing a woman and her daughter and destroying 20 shops. A building of the Power Development Department (PDD) was also damaged and electricity supply in the entire area disrupted, police sources said. Panic gripped the entire region and triggered migration of people to safer areas. Defence sources said that Indian troops retaliated.

In another incident, two armymen were killed in an IED blast in Magam area of Handwara this afternoon. Sources said that troops were carrying some IEDs for being planted in the Magam woods, an infiltration route of militants from Pakistan. As the process of taking them was on, one IED exploded killing two jawans on the spot and injuring two others, sources said.
