Muthiah to miss ICC meet
CHENNAI, MAY 1. Mr. A.C. Muthiah, President, Board of Control for
Cricket in India, will not be attending the crucial meeting of
the International Cricket Council in London tomorrow following
the sudden death of his mother on Sunday night.
Mrs. Abhirami Chidambaram (79), wife of the late M.A.
Chidambaram, former President of BCCI, who died in January this
year, had been ailing for some time. But Mr. Muthiah was keen to
be present in London for the meeting, which comes in the wake of
the raging controversy over betting and match fixing scandal.
Mr. Muthiah was informed of the sad news in Frankfurt while on
way to London. He has decided to skip the meeting and return to
the city tomorrow.
