Barlow's condition stable
DHAKA, MAY 1. The condition of Bangladesh national cricket coach
Eddie Barlow, who was admitted to a Military hospital here with a
brain hemorrhage, is stable now, doctors attending on him said.
``He is now in the intensive care unit. His condition is stable
and he also talked to me,'' a lady doctor attending on the former
South African allrounder at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH)
told PTI.
Hospital sources said Barlow was still under close observation.
Bangladesh Sports Minister Obaidul Quader visited the coach at
the hospital and assured that the government will make all
arrangements for his treatment and if necessary, will send him
abroad.
Barlow was rushed to a nearby clinic and later shifted to the
intensive care unit of CMH after he collapsed at his residence
here on Saturday night.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) sources told PTI that the 60-year-
old coach had on Friday attended the training session with
Bangladesh cricketers selected for the four-nation Asia Cup
cricket tournament to be held in Dhaka next month. He was to
resume training on Sunday after a day's break.
Edgar John Barlow, was appointed Bangladesh coach in August last
year, following the sacking of former West Indies opener Gordon
Greenidge.
Barlow played 30 Tests for South Africa during the 1960s, scoring
2,156 runs at an average of 45.74. He also took 40 wickets at an
average of 34.05 with his medium pace bowling.
