SP MLCs in U.P. expelled from House
LUCKNOW, MAY 5. The Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council Chairman,
Mr. Nityanand Swamy, today expelled 12 Samajwadi Party (SP)
members from the House when they tried to raise the issue of
Ferozabad killings again in the House, defying the chair.
Mr. Swamy objected when Mr. Vijay Singh Rana (SP) tried to raise
the issue through a question of propriety and asked him to wait
till the completion of the question hour.
When Mr. Rana insisted on speaking on the issue, the Chairman
indicted him following which all the SP members rose to their
feets. The Chairman asked the marshall to remove all the 12 SP
members, who were standing, including Mr. Rana.
Later, the senior Samajwadi Party member, Mr. Ram Saran Das, who
was not in the House at the time of expulsion, brought a
resolution to call back the members which was supported by Vidhan
Parishad leader, Mr. Lalji Tandon, and the members were allowed
to attend the farewell ceremony of its retiring colleagues in the
House. The Council today bade a warm farewell to its ten retiring
members with mementos and shawls.
