BJP for CBI probe
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, MAY 12. The cold-blooded killing of labourers in Bihar
led the Janata Dal (United) MPs in the Lok Sabha to demand the
immediate sacking of the Rabri Devi Government, forcing a 90-
minute adjournment immediately after question hour. As some of
the ``allies'' of the main ruling party rushed into the well of
the House, and the uproar showed no sign of dying down, the
Speaker, Mr. G. M. C. Balayogi, adjourned the House.
If the Opposition parties registered their protest against the
killing of Dalits in Uttar Pradesh a few days ago, it was the
turn of the BJP's allies to criticise the absence of law and
order in Bihar today.
Outside the House, the BJP's immediate reaction to the report on
the killings was that the Congress(I), which is supporting the
Rashtriya Janata Dal Government in the State, must be held
responsible for the ``reinstallation of jungle raj in Bihar''.
Demanding a CBI inquiry, the BJP spokesperson, Mr. M. Venkaiah
Naidu, charged the Opposition with playing politics over the
death of innocents. When some Dalits were killed in Uttar
Pradesh, they were quick to make a noise but when it came to
Bihar, the Opposition was silent.
