Online liquor trading soon
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI, MAY 12. At the click of a mouse, IMFL licensees in Tamil
Nadu will soon get to engage in online trading of liquor. This
facility, starting with Chennai, will be extended throughout the
State in a phased manner, according to the State excise policy
note presented in the Assembly today by the Chief Minister, Mr.
M. Karunanidhi.
The website being developed for TASMAC would provide information
relating to stock position and availability of brands. The
Government would also consider providing the online trading
facility to consumers at the ``appropriate time,'' he added. The
department had been planning to install a software to monitor
production, movement and consumption of spirits, chemical
products and IMFL in order to prevent any diversion or misuse.
Soon, all licences would be issued or renewed through computers,
he said.
