By Our Corporate Reporter

CHENNAI, MAY 12. Deltagram, the Chennai based satellite messaging company, has announced the launch of its pre-paid phonemail card `Hello'.

The cards will be made available at all Deltagram collection centres, select departmental stores and other retail outlets and are priced at Rs. 10. A reply card costs Rs. 15. With a card, the user can call up Deltagram on toll free numbers printed on the card to send a message to any one select centres all over the country.

Mr. R. Kothandaraman, Managing Director, told presspersons here recently that the user-friendly product would enable one to send a message, not exceeding 60 words, by contacting the central office through the toll free number.

The user will have to give the pin number and passward embedded in the card. The central office in turn will pass on the message through its hubs (v-sats) to its strategically located centres in different towns. The franchisees in these towns will convey the message to the party concerned through telephone or by personal delivery. The company has about 56 hubs (v-sats), 250 town centres and about 5,000 collection centres throughout the country. The number of franchisees will go up to 1,000 and collection centres to 30,000 by the end of this year. The company plans to have a tie-up with Pagelink belonging to Himachal Futuristic for phone to pager service, Mr. Kothandaraman said.
