Randhawa slides to fourth spot

MACAU, MAY 12. On a day when fellow Indians Gaurav Ghei, Amandeep Johl and Harmeet Kahlon moved up, Jyoti Randhawa carded a par-71 to slip by two spots to the jointh fourth spot in the second round of the Macau Open golf tournament at the Macau Golf and Country Club Course here on Friday.

Reigning Indian Open winner Randhawa, with a tally of five-under 137, was three strokes adrift of rookie professional Simon Dyson of England, who shot a 70 to hang on to his top spot.

Delhi-based Ghei slotted home a 69 for the second day in succession and improved by five placings to be a stroke behind Randhawa at 138. Ghei was sharing the eighth spot along with three others, including American Mark O'Meara.

Amandeep Johl and Harmeet Kahlon, too, fared better to conclude at the joint 12th and 15th spots respectively. Johl followed his 69 with a 70 for an aggregate of 139 while Kahlon shot a 69 to improve by 17 spots at 140.

Other Indians to make the `cut ', which was applied at 146, were Amritinder Singh (75, 69), Vivek Bhandari (70, 74) and Digvijay Singh (75, 70). Amritinder and Bhandari were both lying at the 43rd position while Digvijay was at the 55th spot.

The Indians who failed to go beyond the half-way mark were Arjun Atwal (74, 74), Indrajit Bhalotia (76, 73), Kanwar Sekhon (78, 75) and Amit Dube, who retired in the second round.
