Out of all proportion

Sir, - Not a day passes without Dr. Subramanian Swamy hogging space in newspapers out of all proportion to the importance of his pronouncements. Of all his recent statements to the Press, the one that pontificates the present, as the ripe time to nab Prabhakaran of the LTTE takes the cake (The Hindu, May 17). While nabbing Veerappan within the country has for years been eluding the powers, sending ``commandos'' to nab Prabhakaran as advised by Dr. Swamy will find them all ending up as sacrificial lambs without a strong supporting Indian Army presence in the Island which the Prime Minister has with wide consensus already ruled out.

K. Rama Iyengar,
