Misconceived remarks

Sir, - The letter of Mr. Samuel Varghese under the heading ``Real danger'' (TheHindu, May 31) clearly reflects ``holier than thou'' attitude with reference to Christianity vis-a-vis Islam. Perhaps, the author has not dwelt on the issue in its true perspective with reference to the historical background before making the misconceived remarks. Hence it is considered necessary to put at rest the basic subject matter now raised by just mentioning the fact that the Vatican Head confessed his sincere regrets for whatever injustice caused or excesses committed by the Christians in their misplaced enthusiasm.

The threat is not from Islam but from the people who look at Islam as well as its contribution to the world's civilisation in a prejudiced manner.
