By Amit Baruah
ISLAMABAD, JUNE 6 Three days after the world premiere of the
film, Jinnah, Pakistan has decided to sack the film's high-
profile presenter and High Commissioner to Britain, Mr. Akbar S.
Ahmed.
An official announcement said last night that the Government had
decided to ``replace'' Mr. Ahmed, who has been in the midst of a
raging controversy over alleged financial irregularities relating
to the film.
Mr. Ahmed has been given a month to wind up his affairs in
accordance with the contract appointing him High Commissioner in
November 1999.
``Akbar S. Ahmed has been in the middle of different
controversies lately including misuse of his official status...
appointed last November, (he) faces various allegations, mostly
related to the alleged misuse of funds in the making of the film
Jinnah. He was also charged with having used his official status
to get business contracts for his family members,'' The News
reported.
