Six share lead

MUMBAI, JUNE 6. Six players shared the lead with three points each at the end of the third round of the Global Telesystems National `B' chess championship for the blind organised by the All-India Chess Federation for the Blind here on Tuesday.

Top seed Swapnil Shah of Maharashtra, Sanjay Karandikar (Mah), N. Siddaiya (AP), S. Pandyarajan (TN), Rakesh Narwal (Haryana) and Rajesh Ojha (Mah) were leading the field of 86 players with an all-win record at the end of the third round.

There were ten other players with 2.5 points each, including Gaurav Gadodia of Maharashtra, who represented India last year in the Junior World championships for the blind at Belgium and finished a creditable ninth.

Shoba Lokhande of Maharashtra was leading the women competitors with two points out of three.

The top ten players in this tournament will join the top four finishers of last year's National and the 14 will play on a round-robin basis in the National `A' tournament, which is to be held later this year.

Harinath (AP, 2) lost to Pandiyarajan (TN, 3); Gaurav Gadodia (Mah, 2.5) drew with Chirantan Mesariya (Guj, 2.5); Dinesh Kumar (Har, 2.5) drew with Suryakant Raut (Mah, 2.5); Shankar Chakraborty (Beng, 2.5) drew with Dinesh Bhura (Guj, 2.5); Rajesh Rajpur (Guj, 2.5) drew with Sunil Kolhe (Mah, 2.5); Rakesh Kumar Narwal (Har, 3) bt Trilochan Kumar Jha (Bih, 2); Dolaram Solanki (Raj, 2) lost to Rajesh Ojha (Mah, 3).
