C-DAC's web application tool

HYDERABAD, JUNE 13. The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has announced the launch of its multilingual product ``iplugin'', a web application development tool for Indian languages. The product is based on C-DAC's Graphics and Intelligence based Script Technology (GIST).

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. R. K. Arora, Executive Director, said iplugin supports Indian languages such as Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Punjabi, Bengali, Oriya and Assamese using specially designed attractive fonts.

The diverse application areas of iplugin include developing e- mail applications, interactive chat facility on the web in the language of user's choice, a specialised Indian language calendar and an Indian language ticker, among others.

GIST also provides off the shelf software packages for content creation, aesthetic dynamic fonts which facilitate a web surfer to view Indian language content without needing to download fonts and other web development tools for messaging and interactive e- commerce applications.
