C-DAC's web application tool
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD, JUNE 13. The Centre for Development of Advanced
Computing (C-DAC) has announced the launch of its multilingual
product ``iplugin'', a web application development tool for
Indian languages. The product is based on C-DAC's Graphics and
Intelligence based Script Technology (GIST).
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. R. K. Arora,
Executive Director, said iplugin supports Indian languages such
as Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Punjabi,
Bengali, Oriya and Assamese using specially designed attractive
fonts.
The diverse application areas of iplugin include developing e-
mail applications, interactive chat facility on the web in the
language of user's choice, a specialised Indian language calendar
and an Indian language ticker, among others.
GIST also provides off the shelf software packages for content
creation, aesthetic dynamic fonts which facilitate a web surfer
to view Indian language content without needing to download fonts
and other web development tools for messaging and interactive e-
commerce applications.
