Bihar power staff threaten strike

DHANBAD, JUNE 13. The Bihar State Progressive Electric Workers' Union today threatened to go on state-wide indefinite strike from July 7 in protest against the `mass transfer' of Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) workers.The Union general secretary, Mr. Ram Krishna Singh, alleged the BSEB management had failed to implement the bilateral agreement on employees' demands reached on January 27 and instead decided to transfer about 28,000 electricity board `workmen'.

This ``autocratic, punitive'' step of the management might lead to disastrous effect on power generation, distribution and transmission causing hardship to consumers, he told PTI here.
