Yeh hi hai right choice... aha!

By T. Lalith Singh

HYDERABAD, JUNE 29. Going back to the elements of nature! Is that how the Information Technology (IT) industry going to pay back to the society?

At least the country's leading IT company, Wipro, seems to be doing that. Pure and clean water, is what it has decided to offer to the denizens of Hyderabad. And, as a part of the endeavour, it is dotting the City with water shelters.

Ten shelters have already come up in different parts of the City, including Jubilee Hills, Ameerpet, Madhapur and Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, Punjagutta.

With a 750-litre tank, the water shelter has two coolers and is also equipped with an Aquaguard for ensuring hygienic water. With major successes in every sphere of business that it took up, including healthcare technology services and consumer durables too, the company is now set to ``fulfill it's social obligation. And what better way than quenching the thirst of the people,'' says its Corporate Brand and Marketing Manager, P. Anirudh.

One such shelter was inaugurated by the Additional Director- General of Police, Swaranjit Sen, at the DG's office complex on Wednesday. The inaugural too was different. There was neither a ribbon to be cut nor any lamp to be lit. The formal inauguration had Sen accepting and drinking the first glass of water from the shelter amidst clapping by a small gathering of police personnel.

The gesture of setting-up a water shelter exclusive for them did win instant appreciation from the police personnel. A senior official was heard saying, ``It is gladdening to see someone thinking about police. Even if it is in the form of providing us with drinking water.''
