Intel introduces Pentium 4 processor
By Our Correspondent
NEW DELHI, JUNE 29. Mr. Pam Pollace, Vice-President, Intel Corp,
has pointed out that around the world, PC users associate the
Pentium brand with the highest PC performance, compatibility and
quality. ``Computer users will be able to instantly recognise the
Pentium 4 processor as Intel's newest high performance
microproccesor,'' he noted.
(Intel Chief Executive, Mr. Craig Barrett, on Wednesday unveiled
in the US Intel Corp's new high-end Pentium 4 computer chip,
formerly code-named Willamette, running at an advertised 1.5
billion bits of information per second for faster graphics and
game play. The Pentium 4, which goes on sale this fall, far
outpaces the processing power of AMD's recently announced Athlon
chip, which runs at 1 gigahertz or 1 billion bits of information
per second.)
However, the new Pentium chip has a slightly different logo while
retaining the familiar ``Intel inside'' message and is scheduled
to be introduced in the second half of this year.
The logo in which the word `Intel 4'' is more prominent than ever
before is slated to soon become ubiquitous. Intel is poised to
launch a gigantic advertising programme in partnership with its
strategic partners as part of the ``Intel inside programme''.
