Unanimous choice of Bihar Council Chairman
PATNA, JUNE 29. The acting chairman of the Bihar Legislative
Council, Professor Jabir Hussain, has emerged as the unanimous
choice of the political parties for the post of Chairman of the
Upper House election for which would be held tomorrow.
The deadline for filing the nomination papers ended at two hrs
today and Mr. Hussain is the only candidate in the fray.
Twenty sets of nominations were filed in his favour by the
Rashtriya Janata Dal, Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party, Samata
Party, Janata Dal (United), Janata Dal, Communist Party of India,
Communist Party of India (Marxist), independent and unattached
members of the house.A formal announcement of Mr. Hussain's
election would be made in the House tomorrow.
