Faith in God
THE DIVINE UNIVERSAL GOSPELS OF SRI NIGAMANANDA: Translated by
Bijoy Kumar Roy; ``Sonoscan'', Nayabazaar, Balasore- 756001,
Orissa. Rs. 200.
INDIA HAS produced many spiritual leaders who had attempted to
reform people and put them on the right path. One among them was
Nigamananda. In his earlier days, he wanted to be an overseer but
turned Godward and took to spiritual path, received training from
the illustrious Guru of his days, toured places and ultimately
settled in Puri.
A Bengali by birth, after becoming a religious leader, he
preached God's message, established an Ashram in Durgapur,
another at Jorhat and other service institutions. Apart from
several works, the saint had delivered several lectures to be of
use for all sections of society on various topics like Yoga,
character-building, Vedanta, unity of religions, greatness of
Hinduism, and messages of Sankara and Gauranga. Dr. B. K. Roy has
translated the messages into English. Several mistakes in
printing and spelling have crept in, which could have been
avoided. The main teaching of the Guru is about faith in God and
the need for Sadhana.
