Envoy to Pak. to take charge on Aug. 14

ISLAMABAD, AUG. 11. The Indian Ambassador-designate to Pakistan, Mr. Vijay Nambiar, is arriving here on August 14 to take charge of his assignment.

According to officials in the Indian High Commission, Mr. Nambiar would present his credentials to the Pakistan President, Mr. Rafiq Tarar, on August 16.

A 1967 Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Mr. Nambiar was the Indian Ambassador in Beijing till recently. The Indian High Commission in Islamabad is without the High Commissioner since the retirement of Mr. G. Parthasarathy on May 31.

Mr. Nambiar has served as Ambassador in Kabul and Algeries and as High Commissioner in Kaulalumpur. He is credited for the improvement in the Indo-China relations.

With the Indo-Pak ties at its lowest ebb, the task of the Ambassador-designate is cut out. The new low in the relations between India and Pakistan is evident from the decision of India to pull out of Sahara Cup.
