Poor second round for Indians

KUALA LUMPUR, AUG. 11. It was a poor second round for the eight Indians in the fray as rain truncated the day's play in the $250,000 Volvo Masters golf here on Friday.

When the play was suspended due to lightining 69 players including Wills Indian Open champion Jyoti Randhawa had still to complete the second round.

Barring Calcutta based Indrajit Bhalotia who carded a par 72 round to total three over 145 in two rounds (73,72) all the other Indians had over par rounds. Indrajit was lying at joint 20th position.

Delhi's Gaurav Ghei shot two over 74 and with a total of three over 147 (73, 74) was at joint 30th slot.

Chandigarh's Amandeep Johl was totally off colour and had a dismal eight over par 80 round and slumpped to 38th place with five over 149.

Delhi's Amit Dube carded his second successive three over par 75 round and was at 40th place with six over 150.

Chandigarh's Kanwar Sekhon hit two over par 74 and with a total of 7 over 151 (77, 74) was at joint 47th place along with Calcutta's Uttam Mundy. Mundy also had a bad day. he hit six over par 78 to aggregate 7 over 151 (73, 78).

Calcutta's Feroz Ali who had three over par 75 in the first round retired from the competition.

Randhawa was seven under par after playing six holes in the second round while Thailand's Thammannon Sriroj is six under 138.
