Professor seeks CBI probe into son's killing

CHAPRA (Bihar), AUG. 25. The head of the Hindi department of the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Dr. Pandey, today called for a probe either by the CBI or a sitting judge of the Patna High Court into the killing of his only son, Anand Pandey, in an alleged encounter with the police in Gopalganj district last week.

Talking to reporters, Dr. Pandey alleged that his son was killed by Gopalganj's Kateya police station in-charge Vinay Pal, under ``a well- planned conspiracy.''He said that only an independent inquiry could ``Unravel the truth'' behind the killing of Anand on August 16.''

The RJD president, Mr. Laloo Prasad Yadav, who had gone to Gopalganj yesterday to console Anand's family members had promised that an FIR would be lodged against Kateya police station in-charge in this connection.
