TNEB to replace defective meters in three days

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI, SEPT. 23. The TNEB has said that it would replace defective or suspected higher recording defective domestic meters within three days on payment of Rs. 500 in the form of a demand draft drawn in favour of SE/CEDC/ North Chennai.

The draft can be either handed over with a copy of the white meter card to the cash counter at 5B Block, 802, Anna Salai, TNEB Complex or sent by registered post to the Accounts Officer, O/o, CED/Chennai with a copy of the white meter card.

Consumers who require new meters too could follow the procedure in case they do not want to approach the section office.

A TNEB press release said the system was being introduced on a trial basis in the Chennai City Distribution Circles for domestic services. This follows complaints of delay in replacement of meters and consequent payment on `average basis.'
