Mukesh Ambani bags 'Entrepreneur' award

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 23. Mr. Mukesh D. Ambani of Reliance Petroleum won the Ernst & Young `Entrepreneur of the Year' award for steering the company past all difficulties and completing the Rs. 30,000 crore Jamnagar plant in less than three years.

``Reliance Petroleum, the biggest grassroots refinery, was the vision of Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani ... I dedicate the award to the people of Reliance,'' the Ambani scion said after receiving the award from Mr. Kumaramangalam Birla here yesterday.

Mr. Azim Premji of Wipro, who won the `Master Entrepreneur of the Year', award was not present. The `Manager Entrepreneur of the Year' award went to Mr. Dewang Mehta of Nasscom while Mr. Suresh Rajpal of Trigyn Technologies won the `Entrepreneur' award for start-up companies.

Mr. Sunil Mittal of Bharti Telecom won the `Entrepreneur' award specifically allotted for the ICE sector. Jet airways chief Mr. Naresh Goyal won the award for services and Mr. K. I. Varaprasad Reddy of Shanta Biotech for healthcare and life-sciences segment. Entrepreneur of the year in the manufacturing sector was bagged by Mr. Arun Kumar of Strides Arcolab.
