ICI India to enter fragrances business
By Our Staff Reporter
CALCUTTA, SEPT. 23. ICI India is all set to start flavours and
fragrances business, nick named Quest, in India.
The company is at present conducting a market survey to chalk out
its business plans. ICI plc had already entered this new activity
worldwide.
Addressing a press conference, after the annual general meeting
here, managing director, Mr. A. Narayan, said apart from Quest,
the company would lay stress on industrial speciality products
(Uniquema), decorative paints and speciality starch. ICI India
had commissioned a 1,200 tonne per annum plant for hot melt
(starch) adhesives in January.
With improved cash flow situation in the last fiscal, the company
is also considering investments in a ``new business'' related to
the company's present sphere of activities. The decision in this
regard will be taken early next year.
The future of the existing operations depends on the global trend
pursued by ICI plc.
