Abducted asst. director reaches Gajanur

ERODE, SEPT. 28. Mr. Nagappa Maradagi, assistant film director,
who was abducted along with the Kannada thespian, Mr. Rajkumar,
on the night of July 30 by the forest brigand Veerappan, today
escaped from the abductors in Thalamalai forests and arrived at
Gajanur around 6 p.m. Now he is said to be in the house of Mr.
Rajkumar.
This was stated by police here who said that Mr. Nagappa was
keeping good health. Higher police officials have rushed to the
spot. A team of special doctors from Sathyamangalam has rushed to
Thalawady. Further investigation is on. Security has been
tightened around Mr. Rajkumar's house.
Our Chennai Special Correspondent reports:
Official sources here said that Mr. Nagappa appeared to have
suffered minor head injuries and was taking rest in the Gajanur
bungalow of Mr. Rajkumar. He is being taken to Mysore for medical
check-up. The police were still trying to find out how Mr.
Nagappa reached Gajanur from the forest.
Our Bangalore Staff Reporter reports:
The Karnataka Director-General of police, Mr. C. Dinakar, told
the The Hindu Mr. Nagappa, had already reached Gajanur. However,
it was not known whether the hostage was released or whether he
escaped from Veerappan's custody, Mr. Dinakar added.
