GOLAGHAT (Assam), OCT. 2. Eleven persons were killed and eight
injured when a truck carrying tea garden labourers collided with
a train in Assam's Golaghat district today, at an unmanned level-
crossing, near falkating railway junction, the Golaghat
Superintendent of Police, Mr. P. M. Das said.
Seven persons, including the driver, were killed on the spot
while four others died on their way to hospital.
The injured have been admitted to the K. K. Civil hospital and
the condition of most of them was stated to be serious.
The passengers of the train, however, were not injured though one
compartment was damaged. Senior police and civil officials have
rushed to the spot and the area has been cordoned off for all
traffic.
