8 TDP workers killed in mishap

TIRUPATI, OCT. 4. Tragedy struck a 11-member team of TDP
activists from Kuppam even as they were on their way to Tirupati
to attend the farmers' mela of the Chief Minister, Mr. N.
Chandrababu Naidu, when their ill- fated jeep collided head-on
with an APSRTC bus resulting in the instantaneous death of six on
the spot and two on way to hospital.
The condition of three others who were rushed to the CMC
Hospital, Vellore in neighbouring Tamil Nadu, also is declared
critical.
According to information reaching here, all the victims, in their
late twenties were videographers from Kuppam, the CM's
constituency. Not knowing what the fate had in store for them,
they were dashing down to Tirupati when the jeep rammed an APSRTC
bus coming in the opposite direction at Mordhanapalle, 4 km from
Chittoor town.
The Chief Minister, to whom the news about the tragedy was
conveyed even as he was attending the mela, expressed deep shock
at the colossal loss of life and asked the RDO, Chittoor, and
other senior officials to rush to the spot to arrange relief. The
Yalamuru police registered a case and are investigating. The
names of the deceased are as follows: Ravikumar, Diwakar, Suresh,
Naresh, Subramanyam, Ravi, Pechimuthu and Thimmarayappa. The
three fighting for their life at CMC are: Ramesh Babu, Babu and
Babji.
