Rajkumar's kidnap has not affected administration: CM
By Our Staff Reporter
BANGALORE, OCT. 4. The Chief Minister, Mr. S.M.Krishna, today
denied that the abduction of Mr. Rajkumar by Veerappan had in any
way affected administration.
Addressing presspersons at the Institute of Social and Economic
Change here, he admitted that the abduction had diverted the
Government's attention. But it had no bearing on the
administration.
On the performance of his Government during its first year, Mr.
Krishna said there still was one week to go (before it completes
the first year). His Government's programmes could not be
achieved in one year. Asked whether he had a sense of
achievement, he replied: "More than that".
`Continue talks'
Dr. Madhava Godbole, former Union Home Secretary, said no
offensive against Veerappan should be launched till Mr. Rajkumar
was released. There was no option before the Government now,
except to continue negotiations. There was scope for action only
after the release of the hostages.
He said that a combined operation by the governments of Karnataka
and Tamil Nadu and the Centre should be launched against
Veerappan after the release of the hostages.
