Police announce reward on fugitive

KARIMNAGAR, OCT. 16. The District police have announced a reward of Rs. 25,000 to anyone who discloses the whereabouts of the Mumbai mafia gangster and undertrial prisoner, Badha Raju Gangaram alias Raju Bhayya, who escaped from custody on Saturday.

According to a pressnote issued by the Superintendent of Police, Mr. Nalin Prabhat, the identity of the persons giving information about the gangster would be kept confidential. Information would be passed on to the police on the following telephone numbers SP office : 08722-42303 & 42856, the Additional SP (Operations) : 42540, the police control room 100 and the SB office 40276.

The SP said the fugitive managed to create an impression on the escort party that he was a chronically-ill patient in need of emergency medical care. He said following the incident the district police launched a massive search operation to nab the gangster and sounded red alert in the entire district.

The mafia leader, a native of Ilapoor village of Korutla mandal in the district, had migrated to Mumbai in 1975 and formed his own gang and indulged in various offences. He was involved in six murder cases and several other kidnap and extortion cases.
