Cyclonic storm dissipates
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, OCT. 19. Andhra Pradesh came out of a cyclone threat
on Thursday as the cyclonic storm that remained off the coast for
four days keeping the coastal belt on the tenterhooks weakened
into a low pressure area and waned even without crossing the
coast.
The State Government, which had made war-like preparations to
meet the challenge and the people living in coastal districts
heaved a sigh of relief.
The system was dewarned following a clear statement made by
weathermen this morning about the dissipation at a meeting held
by the Chief Secretary, Mr. P.V. Rao, to review the situation. In
his words: ``the cyclone came with a bang and left in a
whimper.''
