By Our Staff Reporter
ANANTAPUR, OCT. 19. Six persons from three families allegedly
committed suicide on Wednesday night in the district, mainly due
to financial problems. The deceased included four women and a 1-
year-old girl.
According to the police, the problem of debts due to successive

suicide by torching themselves at Krishnamreddypalli in Anantapur
rural mandal. Along with his wife, Ms. Gangadevi (28) and
daughter Navya (1), he doused them with kerosene and set them
ablaze.
While Navya died on the spot, Sudhakar breathed his last on way
to hospital. Ms. Gangadevi was battling for life in the Anantapur
General Hospital. According to her death declaration and
villagers' account, they had four acres of land and had
cultivated groundnut. But the crop was a failure this year too
due to pest attack.
He was learnt to have bought a house for Rs. 50,000 expecting a
good yield this year but the last three years' crop failure

the family decided to end their lives. The couple's another
daughter, Hema (3), was saved as she was away with her
grandparents.
