MRPS rally on Dec.16

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, DEC. 7. A `Maha Pradarshana' will be organised by the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) on December 16 in Hyderabad. A rally would be taken out from Indira Park to the RTC cross roads in which leaders of SC, ST, BC and minorities would take part.

Mr. S. Devaiah Madiga, vice president, MRPS, said the rally would bring pressure on the Government to implement the SC, ST Prevention of Atrocities Act and take action against those not implementing it.

Mr. Devaiah Madiga charged the Mamnur police in Warangal district of raping a Madiga woman recently and demanded action against the guilty. He further asked the Government to sanction adequate funds to Lidcap as it was set up to benefit the poor. The financial position of Lidcap was so bad that salaries were not paid to its staff for the last six months. The MRPS demands did not place any financial burden on the Government, he said.
