Zip Global launches payphone services in Indonesia

MUMBAI, DEC. 7. Zip Global Network has launched its end-to-end
payphone services in Indonesia in a joint venture with the
Singapore-based Great Asian Holdings. The joint venture will set
up 75,000 ZIPFone payphone locations in Indonesia within two
years.
Zip Global Network is the Mauritius-based international holding
company of Mumbai-based Zip Telecom, pioneers of end-to-end
payphone services. Great Asian Holdings is the holding company of
Indonesia's leading telecom services provider, Ratelindo.
Apart from profits of the joint venture and usage revenues, Zip
Telecom (the Indian subsidiary) will earn revenues from royalty
of the brand and revenues accruing from advertising on the unique
Zip Media Avenues (ZMA).
Great Asian Holdings holds majority (75 per cent) stake in the
yet-to-be-named joint venture (while Zip Global holds the balance
25 per cent). Great Asian Holdings will have management control
and bring its knowledge of local market to the JV. Zip Global
will bring its expertise and experience of managing a
sophisticated payphone franchise network in India. The countries
of interest for the joint venture are Indonesia, Australia,
Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
