Intruder held near Rabri Devi's house
By Our Special Correspondent
PATNA, DEC. 7. Police today arrested an armed intruder who tried
to force his way into the official residence of the Chief
Minister, Mrs. Rabri Devi, early in the morning.
Security personnel nabbed the intruder, identified as Dilip Kumar
Nirmal, at the entry point checkpost of Anne Marg on which the
Chief Minister's residence is located when they sighted the
country-made pistol he was carrying under his shawl.
The intruder let go a shot even as police grappled to take him
under their custody. The bullet brushed past the havildar's
uniform. The intruder, now in police custody, is being
interrogated.
The Chief Minister, who was taking a stroll, was alarmed by the
gun shot and immediately the RJD president, Mr. Laloo Prasad
Yadav, personally enquired into the matter. According to Mr.
Yadav the intruder had sworn to kill the Chief Minister but added
that it was for the police to investigate into his intentions and
his antecedents. However, the intruder reportedly changed his
statement later to claim that he had sought to commit suicide
outside the Chief Minister's residence following the murder of
his family members including his father.
The intruder hailed from Sitamarhi district and some police
officials were of the view that he was mentally deranged.
