Two naxals surrender

By Our Staff Reporter

GUNTUR, DEC. 13. Two members of the Chandravanka dalam of the People's War Group surrendered here on Wednesday before the Superintendent of Police, Mr. J. Purnachandra Rao.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Mr. Purnachandra Rao said that L. Yellamandamma alias Bharatakka (19) of Joolakallu and Ch. Devadas alias Rajanna (30) of Gollapeta in Bellamkonda mandal, both members of the Chandravanka dalam, surrendered to the police. In fact, Devadas had snapped his connections with the outlawed organisation almost a couple of years ago. But, he was staying underground. Bharatakka, who joined the dalam last year, left it recently. They were, however, not forthcoming to disclose the reasons for their ``disillusionment.''

The SP said that he had credible information that at least 12 members of the Chandravanka squad, including the commander, snapped their ties with the PWG. The SP, on coming to know that Rajanna came out of the dalam and moving incognito, wrote a letter to him and handed over the same to his relatives. They handed over the letter to him which infused confidence in him to surrender, said the SP. The SP said he was also writing a letter to Mr. Sanka Ravi Sekhar (40), commander of the dalam, urging him to surrender. The other members who snapped the contacts with the PWG included Mariamma alias Lakshmi of Pinnelli village and Swarnakka.
