Indian bags Global Development Award

WASHINGTON, DEC. 14. Mr. S.R. Mohanty from India has bagged the Global Development Award for his management of public hospitals through community participation in Madhya Pradesh.

He gets the $125,000 prize in the category of most innovative development project.

The project, begun in 1994, involves community participation in cleaning and overhauling the hospitals and rehabilitating other health care facilities.

Mr. Mohanty is now the Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corp.
